The Mutapa Investment Fund is wholly owned by the Republic of Zimbabwe, with the President acting as trustee and the Ministry of Finance and Investment Promotion providing oversight.
As at 30 June 2024, gross asset value of funds under the management of MIF was US$16 billion.
Unlike traditional sovereign wealth funds that focus on diversified investment portfolios and long-term wealth preservation, the Mutapa Fund operates more as a state holding company, controlling strategic national assets across telecommunications, energy, mining, and agriculture
